Olas del Alma is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children and adolescents in vulnerable situations.

Our surf therapy chapters are located in Cahuita, Limon, Costa Rica; Santa Clara del Mar, Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Nuqui, Choco, Colombia.

We provide surf therapy to help our participants achieve physical and mental health.

The age of the participants varies from 4 to 17 years of age. Some are exposed to poverty, violence, abuse, drugs, depression, malnourishment, dysfunctional families, and other social- and psychological-related issues.

Olas del Alma provides a safe space where participants practice physical activities through games that promote values, good habits, and healthy behavior, always within a climate of love and respect.

We use meditation as a tool to teach participants how to get in touch with their feelings and their bodies, and how to reflect on their positive achievements and abilities.

Surfing is key. We use surf therapy to connect with unstable emotions that children and adolescents may have and to help them find solutions. We provide the support they need with caring adults.

The kids apply what they learn at Olas del Alma to control situations at home and school. Breathing exercises, in particular, are very useful.

The transformation is evident when we hear children saying how happy they are sharing activities at the beach. Some parents say that their children can’t wait to attend the next session at «Olas del Alma.»

«Olas del Alma» also supports surf therapy organizations in other countries. We provide training, equipment and other support to «Astillero Surf Club» in Nicaragua, «Ola Cuba» in Cuba, and Fundación Jhonaikel Bolivar in Venezuela. We are also working on an architectural project, «The Wave to the Goal,» with «Ali Royals Surf and Soccer Foundation» in Anomabo, Ghana, West Africa. Soon, we will be opening another chapter of Olas del Alma in Punta del Este, Uruguay. Our chapters are in low- and middle-income countries.

This is why we need your support. Everyone at Olas del Alma works on a volunteer basis, and all our funds reach their destinations in full.
